Den politiske kanestøypar” is a classic Holberg comedy based on the play “King for a Day”, in the same way as “Jeppe of the Mountain”.
Herman von Bremen has read up on political theory, invites his friends to meetings about politics and new revolutionary ideas, and neglects both work and home.

The city councillors get wind of this highly undesirable activity and decide to teach Herman a lesson.
They appoint him Mayor!
Herman von Bremen then becomes entangled in an endless series of unrelated local political tasks and fights heroically to stay afloat in an increasingly absurd reality.
All while the bourgeoisie laughs at their own antics.
“The Political Juggernaut” is a razor-sharp satire that kicks both upwards and downwards, and has remained just as relevant since it premiered in 1722.
We welcome this autumn’s great comedy, but at the same time say with the words of another famous Dane, Piet Hein: “Those who only take a joke for a joke, and seriousness for seriousness, he and she have actually got both wrong.”
