In beautiful Øyfjell, just a short 15-minute drive from Åmot, you’ll find a 5.4-kilometer-long fatbike trail that takes you deep into the winter-clad forest. The snow is heavy on the branches here, and the trail is wide, soft and well-suited to a quiet and atmospheric winter biking experience.
The beautiful trail is maintained by dedicated local cycling enthusiasts, who volunteer to pull it to share this unique experience with others. Best of all, the trail is free to use.
Start the hike by parking at the farmhouse or school in Øyfjell. Cross the road and follow the farm road over the bridge, and you will quickly find the trail on the right.
Make sure you stick to the dedicated bike path and take care not to disturb the ski trails in the area. Before setting off on your trip, you may want to check whether the trail has been newly marked via Øyfjell Fatbikeløype ‘s Facebook page.
If you want to rent a fatbike or join a guided tour, you can contact Gygra. Late winter also offers a rare opportunity to experience winter cycling on the trails.
