Practical information

A cozy meeting place along the E134, with a wood-fired bakery, café and accommodation in a traditional Telemark barn.

Mjonøy is a pleasant meeting place and a popular stop for travelers, hikers and residents of Vinje. The wood-fired bakery is known for its fresh baked goods from the stone oven and is open from Easter and throughout the fall. Stop by the self-service bakery and enjoy classic coffee food in a tranquil setting.

During the summer season, the café is open daily, with simple, homemade dishes on the menu – including the popular Mjonøy burger, based on local ingredients from Telemark. The warm surroundings make the place equally suitable for a quick break or a longer rest.

During the summer months, Vinje Husflidslag holds an exhibition in the village hall on Mjonøy, where local and regional craftsmen display and sell their own products. This gives visitors a clear sense of local culture and tradition.

For those who want to stay longer, Mjonøy offers accommodation in 13 unique log cabins originating from farms in West Telemark. The cabins give you the feeling of coming back to the old days, and are peacefully located between the rivers Klevastøylåi and Smørkleppåi. Some cabins are of a higher standard, with showers and toilets, while others are simpler – there is also a small campsite in the area.

The combination of food, culture, accommodation and proximity to nature makes Mjonøy an attractive hiking destination and a natural place to take a rest break.
