The berry season starts gently in June with sweet, small field strawberries along ditch edges and paths. In July, the forest bursts with blueberries and raspberries, while in August the marshes glow yellow with juicy, ripe cloudberries. Come September, it’s time for lingonberries in the logging areas – often after a night or two of frost, which adds extra flavor.
In Vinje’s forests you will also find many different types of mushrooms, but make sure you know what is safe to pick before you set out on a trip.
