A popular hike both in winter and summer!

Practical information

Furufjell is an easy and popular low-altitude hike that is suitable for families, first-time hikers and those who want a great nature experience without spending all day. The hiking trail is located along Fiskestigen, midway between Åmot and Øyfjell, and offers a smooth and gentle climb all the way to the top.

The hike takes you through varied terrain, with marshland at the start and a firm path further up. At the summit, 955 meters above sea level, a great view of the surrounding area awaits – a perfect stop for a coffee break or a snack in the sun. Here you will also find a mailbox with a trimming book under the auspices of Vinje IL.

Furufjell is a hike that can be enjoyed all year round. In summer, good hiking boots are recommended, while snowshoes can be a good aid in winter, depending on snow conditions.

Nature and care

The trail passes through an area rich in wildlife. Show consideration by staying on the marked trail and traveling calmly, especially during breeding and spawning season.

In Vinje municipality, there is a general ban from April 1 to August 20, and autumn is hunting season – dress visibly and show consideration.

Furufjell is a small hike with big rewards – perfect as a quick hike, a family-friendly peak or a break on the journey through Vinje
