18.20 ASLAUG VAA In 2024 it will be 90 years since Aslaug Vaa made her debut with the poetry collection Nord i leite.Vaa is one of the great Telemark poets, and was a poet with a strong international orientation.
She developed her poetry in dialogue with central strands of continental philosophy, and in the period after the Second World War she was one of the most important voices against war and mass destruction.
This aspect of Vaa’s poetry feels particularly relevant today.
Literary scholar and professor Jan Inge Sørbø gives an introduction to Aslaug Vaa’s writing.

19.30 VILLARKONN Stage actor Hæge Manheim gives a scenic presentation of Aslaug Vaa, her universe and her journey through life. Manheim is perhaps best known in Telemark for the successful production about the Rui girls, but has worked as an actor since 1987 at several theaters and in TV series.
He has now been awarded the State Artist Grant.
