Practical information

Combine nature, art and good flavors on the cultural trail between Mjonøy and Smørklepp Art Museum.

The cultural trail between Mjonøy and Smørklepp Art Museum is an atmospheric round trip in light forest terrain, where nature and art go hand in hand. The trail follows the river through a lush landscape, with small hills and beautiful waterfalls setting the tone for the trip.

At the top of the trail, tucked away in the forest, is Smørklepp Art Museum. Here you can experience an impressive collection of artworks by visual artists Henrik Sørensen and Harald Kihle, who once lived and worked together at Smørklepp. The museum provides a close encounter with both the artists’ lives and the landscape that inspired their works.

After the art meeting, you can head back to Mjonøy for something good to eat. The café in the courtyard offers simple dining, and the fragrant bakery is well worth a stop. It’s easy to stay here a little longer than planned.

On Mjonøy, you can also stay in charming lofts and barns, or in modern cabins. During the summer season, there are exhibitions and craft shows in the courtyard – perfect for those who want to combine hiking, culture and good tastes in a tranquil setting.
