Smørklepp Kunstmuseum – Sørensen and Kihle
In the beautiful forests of Smørklepp you will encounter a distinctive gallery of natural stone. In the gallery, Henrik Sørensen and Harald Kihle have found their place. They were two friends who both worked and lived together in Smørklepp. For almost 40 summers, this hamlet has left its own mark on these two artists, and this summer it’s your turn to come and see!

The museum building itself is very special! The building dates back to 1931. It was important for the building to stand forever, so the material used was wedged granite. This gives the building a special look, and is in itself worth a visit! In addition to this, the museum has a rich collection of old travelling wardrobes, costumes, rose paintings, household utensils and various spinning wheels. If you notice the last word, and are wondering what on earth spinning noisemakers are all about – then you must take the tour!

Laurdag & sondag, kl. 11.00 – 17.00
A visit here will arouse your curiosity! Here you can get close to local war history with both stories and artifacts from the time.
The museum is built to commemorate the battles that took place in Vinje and Tokke, April and May in 1940, and to honor all the young people who were ready to fight for their country!

Thursday – Sunday, kl. 11.00 – 16.00
Idyllic Midtbø, better known as the home of poets Halldis Moren Vessas and Tarjei Vessas.
The place is still the same as it was when Halldis and Tarjei lived there.
Since 2016, their descendants, Guri and Olav Vesaas, have kept the garden open to the public in the summer.
And as Olav Vesaas says, “everyone is very welcome – let them get a little dose of Vesaas.”
