We have a great hosts who are getting ready these days, and are looking forward to your visit this summer. Smørklepp Art Museum – Sørensen and Kihle In the beautiful forests of Smørklepp you will encounter a distinctive gallery of natural stone.
In the gallery, Henrik Sørensen and Harald Kihle have found their place.
They were two friends who both worked and lived together at Smørklepp.
For almost 40 summers, this hamlet has left its own mark on these two artists, and this summer it’s your turn to come and see!

11.00 – 17.00 Øyfjell Rural Museum The museum building itself is very special!
The building dates back to 1931.
It was important that the building should stand forever, so the material used was wedged granite.
This gives the building a special look, and is in itself worth a visit!
In addition to this, the museum has a rich collection of old travelling wardrobes, costumes, rose paintings, household utensils and various spinning wheels.
If you notice the last word, and wonder what on earth spinning noisemakers are all about – then you must take the tour!

August Saturday & Sunday, kl.
11.00 – 17.00 The Defense Museum in Vinje A visit here sharpen your curiosity!
Here you can get close to local war history with both stories and artifacts from the time.
The museum has been built to commemorate the battles that took place in Vinje and Tokke in April and May 1940, and to honor all the young people who were ready to fight for their country!

August Thursday – Sunday, kl.
11.00 – 16.00 The poet’s home Midtbø Idyllic Midtbø, better known as the home of poets Halldis Moren Vessas and Tarjei Vessas.
The place is unchanged, and still stands as it did when Halldis and Tarjei lived there.
Since 2016, their descendants, Guri and Olav Vesaas, have kept the garden open to the public in the summer.
And as Olav Vesaas says, “everyone is very welcome – let them get a little dose of Vesaas.”
